Purpose of this program
The overall purpose of Beginning Ireland is to provide English Language and social orientation training to International Protection Applicants (IPAs) with low or very low level language, CEFR A1-/A1+, and limited local social/cultural competences. IPAs at this level are the most excluded among their peers and are often overlooked or passed by in the provision of language and integration training due to the lack of targeted and competent support for this group. Beginning Ireland is designed and delivered by Dr Peter Sheekey at Intercultural Language Service, which has been successfully providing professional support to this group for eight years in Dublin's north inner city.
Potential applicants will be tested and English classes of at least eight hours will be delivered every week.
